Packed Lunches

At Balksbury Federation we are committed to teaching your child to make sensible food choices as part of maintaining a healthy life style. We want to ensure that all children have a healthy and nutritious midday meal that sustains and prepares them for their afternoon learning.

 

Some examples to include in your lunch box ...

  • Fresh fruit.
  • Crunchy vegetables.
  • A meat or protein food such as slices of lean meat; ham, chicken, beef, tuna, hardboiled egg or hummus
  • Dairy food such as a cheese stick or slice, grated cheese, milk or yoghurt.
  • Starchy food such as bread, a roll, pita or flat bread, fruit bread or crackers.
  • Water or unsweetened juice or milk

 

Please DO NOT include...

Fizzy drinks

Chocolate bars or sweets

These have little or no nutritional value and can lead to poor concentration.
