Week 9 – Fractions, Multiplication and Division
This week will focus on activities around using our counting in 10s, 2s and 5s to solve multiplication and division problems as well as looking at fractions – halves and quarters.
Throughout the week keep practicing counting in 10s, 2s and 5s and especially backwards!
Day One
Use these activities to practise counting in 2s. You will find Hot, Hotter and Hottest challenge levels so decide how confident you feel and start there. You do not have to do all the levels.
Max has been eating a lot of cherries this week! Can you count in 2s to work out how many cherries he has been eating each day?
Day Two
Today we will begin to think about how we could choose whether to count a number in 2s, 5s, or 10s. You could use a different coloured pen or pencil to draw groups of 2, 5 and 10 in different colours. We will then solve some problems using counting in 2s.
Day Three
Watch this video to help you see how you can use objects and pictures to solve sharing problems. Then have a go at the challenges below. Remember you can choose your challenge level and you don't have to do them all!
Day Four
Now lets revise halves and quarters. Watch the video and then play the game before you tackle the challenges below.
Day Five
Today we will find half of numbers by sharing or grouping. Watch the video and then solve the word problems below.
