Week 8- 18.05.2020

Dear Children,

We hope you have all had a fabulous week and have enjoyed your home learning tasks. It is great to see your work on the Keeping in Touch page.

As it is half term next week, we will not be setting work for the week. We hope that you spend the week enjoying the lovely sunshine and relaxing. Try to spend some time having fun in the garden, or bake some tasty treats and make sure you regularly go for a nice, long walk for some fresh air if you can. If you feel you would still like to complete home learning tasks next week, then please choose a task that you have not completed from one of the previous task overview sheets on the website. You can also find alternative activities on the BBC Bitesize website.

After half term, we will be updating the website with more home learning tasks, messages from us to say hello, recordings of us sharing more stories and we will upload more videos to help you with your work.

Remember, you can still keep in touch with us, and share what you are doing over half term, by asking your parents/carers to email us at closure@balksbury.org. Make sure you are being helpful to your parents/carers at home and have a lovely half term break!

We are all missing you lots.

The Year 3 Team

Hello Year 3's. Thank you for the photographs that you have sent in and examples of work. (Don't forget to look in the year 3 photo section) It is great to see that  you are working really hard and enjoying working from home and it is so lovely to see what you have been up to. Don't forget to read the stories in the short story section; it has stories, poems and this week some fun tongue twisters! You could read them to your family and even make up some of your own.

Easy maths tasks: If you are finding some of the work a little tricky, you may want to have a try at some of these.

Maths- have a go at these arithmetic problems. Don't forget to use some paper or practical resources to help you work them out if you need to.

Maths- there are plenty of fun shape activities to do this week. The shape word mat will help remind you of the names of shapes.

Maths - Here are the instructions for folding the different 2D shapes. I am using A4 paper but you can use A5 if you want smaller shapes.

Wild life journal- we have been looking at a lot of different animals and plants in English and science. What animals do you have in your garden? Why not sit outside in your garden or look out of your window. What wildlife can you see or hear? Keep a journal (diary) to record what you see and hear.

English: This week we will make up our own adventure stories.

Reading- Read the texts and answer the questions. There is an answer booklet to check your answers.

Spellings- Work out if you need R or Wr fo these words.

Science- Have fun identifying these plants when you go in your garden or out for a walk. See how many you can find. You could make your own plant poster by taking photos or drawing plant diagrams.

Art: Nature mobiles

Design Technology- Why not design your own garden. You could include some of the plants you found from the science task too.

Dingbats: Have a go at these funny word problems then try them on your family! The dingbat clue page explains how to unlock the puzzles and the answer sheet to check at the end.

RE: Watch the story of the three trees and write it in your own words.
